A company with over 400 million people using its services. A company with a 48 percent growth in 2020 alone. A company whose net profit went up from Rs 2694 crore to Rs 5562 crore in one year. A company in which Facebook, Google and Microsoft invested heavily. Yes, this company we're talking about is none other than Reliance Jio, with none other than the Indian business magnate and the world's 4th richest person, Mukesh Ambani at its helm.

The question here is, what is Jio doing right? According to their board of directors, investors are impressed with the company's grasp on broadband connectivity, smart devices, big data analytics, artificial intelligence, IoT, cloud computing, AR, mixed reality and blockchain. But, there's more.

In a recent meeting with the United States' president Donald Trump, Mukesh Ambani told him that Jio would be the only company , with no Chinese components in its plan to get 5G connectivity to India. Its' rivals Airtel and Vodafone have teamed up with Chinese companies Huawei and ZTE among others , to get 5g compatibility for their users. This has drawn investments from Facebook , which invested $5.7 billion in the company .

In order to get 5G connectivity , a company must have very deep pockets , as the ideal spectrum band for 5g is between 3300MHz and 3600MHz . The TRAI has suggested a base price of 492 crore per MHz , and a minimum of 100MHz to even operate that technology . That's a minimum of 492 crore needed by an operator , additional costs aside. Coincidentally , 5.7 billion dollars equals about Rs 43,574 crore.

Another thing Jio is focusing on is its VR glasses named the "Jio Glass" , whose prototype was shown to us during the companies' 43rd Annual General meeting . During the presentation , Kiran Thomas , the president of RIL, asked the pair of glasses to call Isha and Akash (Children of Mukesh Ambani) , after which the JioGlass made a call , and they joined as holograms . Some specifications have been given to us . One pair will weigh 75 grams and will have to be connected to a mobile phone with a wire. It will also come with 25 inbuilt apps , so the users can perform various activities , including meetings.

Jio has partnered with Google to make its products , as Google had a similar product called the Google Glass , which had never gone on sale . All of this makes us very excited for the future, which can hold many exciting things, including holograms and maybe even mobile phones in collaboration with other tech giants.
