When OnePlus released its first phone back in April 2014 , the term 'flagship killer' was instantly associated with it. High end specs and flagship features; at a quarter of the price. Over the years , OnePlus have brought out smartphones which have been budget friendly with flagship level specs , without any major compromises. They have gained the respect and love of tech connoisseurs worldwide and are treated at par with smartphone stalwarts like Apple or Samsung.
OnePlus launches have always been waited for keenly by consumers worldwide, but the OnePlus Nord fandom is one of a kind. With the first ever Augmented Reality launch in the world, and with several pop ups and giveaways in the midst, this phone was one to watch, and when it did release, boy oh boy did the world go crazy. OnePlus upheld their stellar reputation yet again with a phone coveted by millions.
Starting at a price of Rs. 24999, the phone itself came with a rear quad camera setup , with a dual hole punch front facing camera. Boasting a 90Hz OLED display , there was almost nothing to complain about. The Snapdragon 765G chipset and Adreno 620 Gaming Processing Unit gave a commendable performance for a phone of its price and the 4115 mAh battery ensures a long battery life. Even though the battery isn't as large as other phones in its price range , the Snapdragon 765G processor isn't as power hungry as the more advanced processors and helps in ensuring a long battery life. With the advent of 5G technology in India, the Nord is a great buy as it can support 5G telecommunication and it's one or the only phones in its price range to support it. 5G support is usually reserved for higher flagship models and it's nice to see OnePlus including this on a phone this price efficient.
With its low price, OnePlus was also forced to cut down on certain features which are present in a few other phones in its price range. The camera has the same 48mp sensors as the OnePlus 8 but the phone does not offer any scope to expand storage via a micro SD card. The absence of a 3.5 mm headphone jack and wireless charging just add to some flaws in this otherwise remarkable phone.
